What to Expect From Your Procedure
To begin your nuclear medicine procedure, you’ll receive an injection of a radioisotope. The time between your injection and the beginning of your test will vary. Your technologist will give you a time to return for the exam. Once the exam begins, you’ll be asked to lie on an exam table while a scanner is moved over the area of your body to be evaluated. You can remain dressed, but may be asked to remove jewelry, etc. The time of the test will depend on the type of procedure your physician has ordered. A report of your test results will be sent to your physician within 24 hours (exceptions may apply).
Personal Attention
Providing personal attention is a top priority. Our caring and highly trained staff will answer any questions you may have concerning your test or any of our advanced diagnostic services.
Preparations
- Please leave jewelry and unnecessary valuables at home.
- Be sure to tell the technologist if you are pregnant.
*Your doctor should provide procedure-specific preparation instructions for you to follow prior to your test. If you have any questions or would like more information about nuclear medicine, please call us at 865-531-5400.
