Multi-Image CT Scanning (Computed Tomography)

CT ScanningFort Sanders West Diagnostic Center, a division of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, is pleased to offer the GE LightSpeed multi-slice (image) CT system.

CT-computed tomography combines x-ray technology and computers to produce cross-sectional images of internal anatomy. This process enables physicians to obtain an accurate diagnosis through non-invasive imaging. CT is a superior diagnostic tool for brain, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, sinus, and vascular imaging.

Using LightSpeed’s advanced spiral/helical technology, a CT scan of the body that once took several minutes can now be completed in just a few seconds. Image clarity for diagnosis is improved while obtaining a higher level of data integrity. Also, Lightspeed CT scanner can accommodate patients weighing up to 400 pounds.

What to Expect From Your Procedure
Based on the examination your doctor has requested, you may or may not be asked to drink a CT contrast liquid prior to your exam. You’ll be asked to change into a gown and lie on the CT table. The body part being imaged will be positioned into the CT scanner. Again, based on the exam requested, you may or may not be given an injection of a contrast agent into a vein at this time. CT images will then be taken and sent to a computer to be analyzed. A radiologist will interpret your exam and a CT scan report will be sent to your physician within 24 hours (some exceptions may apply).

Providing personal attention is a top priority. Our caring and highly trained staff will answer any questions you may have concerning your test or any of our advanced diagnostic services.
