Fort Sanders West Diagnostic Center is offering an innovative heart disease screening test called HeartScore for coronary artery calcification scoring. The Center is one of the first facilities in the Knoxville area to offer this potentially lifesaving service.
"Our GE LightSpeed CT scanner with HeartScore software is utilitized to take images of your coronary arteries," says Phyllis Shnider, director of the center. "Our radiologists then read the images looking for specifically for calcium deposits that be a potential indicator of heart disease. If your results fall within a given range of calcium deposit levels, you'll be referred back to your doctor for more testing and possible treatment."
